Food for thought..
Recently OSHC educator Emily surveyed the children on what they would like to make and eat at OSHC this term- wow! Check out the list and see if you can spot any cheeky themes!
We follow the Right Bite Standards at OSHC, to encourage a healthy approach to preparing and eating food. We also enjoy exploring different flavours, textures, and cultures through food too!
We’ve highlighted what we thought might be red foods in the list, but aren’t certain what might be amber and green just yet.. We suspect there may be some workarounds for delicious and nutritious takes on some of these ideas.
We’ll try and put a multicultural spin on some of the green meals on our list this term, and so if you have any recipe ideas based on what you’ve read here, please let us know.
In the meantime we’re going to encourage children to source their own recipes through a Google search and to think about what kind of results they come up with.. Are all online resources worth our attention? Are some food blogs that are better than others? I suppose the proof will be in the pudding!
